190lbs for 4 x 6 to start my training day! 🌟🌟 Here are some of my squat tips and cues that I use to help me correct my problems: 1. No matter if the weight is 13lbs or 130lbs - be aggressive. Don't be timid and approach the bar with fear or doubt, use that stretch reflex to your advantage and descend quickly. 2. Keep it tight - squeeze your shoulder blades together and squeeze your upper back to keep that bar from sliding up and down. Also keep those hands close to your body. (Mobility is a common issue when it comes to hand position, so get those shoulders open before you begin your squat) 3. Keep your elbows tucked and drive them forward - this alone will force your body to not fold over in your squat. This will also carry over to keeping your back tight by activating your lats. 4. Breathe - take a HUGE belly breathe before you descend! I usually hold my breath during the descent and release air during the upward motion of the movement. 5. Sit back and drive knees out - think of sitting back in a chair rather than going straight down. Continuously press your knees outward to keep them from buckling. Doing this will help make not only save your knees but help your hips feel more stable while you're driving the weight back up. 6. Mobility work - I spend about 15-20 minutes before every squat day to open up my hips, ANKLES, glutes, and shoulders. Don't neglect mobility work if you want to increase your squat! @riseathleticclub @riseathleticperformance
