I am genuinely the worst at making pies. See the edge of this pie here? It was nicely crimped before I baked it. Do you know what happened? It melted and slid off the pie ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธLuckily I had baked it on a tray so I didn't have a mess of pie crust to scrape out of the oven & instead got to eat the random blobs of baked pastry as a pre-pie snack. Oh well, at least it tastes good ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ“

I love to make fruit shrubs (a.k.a drinking vinegars) to have during the summer months - they're delicious with or without booze and are a cool way to preserve fruits! I've had a kind of mental week! Finally got round to celebrating TheSavvyCook with all my food mates at the gorgeous ryelondon space. Iโ€™m addicted to eating cherries at this time of year ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿค— lucky for me Waitrose is now selling British-grown ones which are also LEAF Marque certified, meaning theyโ€™re farmed in an environmentally responsible way (e.g. using crop rotation) - all things which make me smile! ๐Ÿ’œ Iโ€™ve used them in a buttery torte recipe with dark chocolate and hazelnuts for a perfect tea-time snack.
